What is the Tiny Desk AI video template?

0 to 1.4 seconds: the Tiny Desk AI template opens on the lead singer at the mic, eyes closed, taking a breath with a smile already starting.

1.4 to 6.7 seconds: the full band behind the office desk: the lead in the middle, the keyboard player in the front row singing along, the sax player swaying to the beat and backing singers clapping in the back.

6.7 to 12 seconds: a close-up of the lead singer turning to the camera mid-line and cracking up, waving a hand and laughing before trying to carry on.

12 to 15 seconds: the sax player closes with a solo, eyes shut and cheeks puffed, while the keyboard player grins at the edge of the frame. The cuts land on a steady 99 BPM beat.

Where the Tiny Desk trend comes from

Tiny Desk is NPR Music's concert series, filmed since 2008 behind a desk in a Washington office crammed with records and souvenirs. In October 2026 a TikTok creator took a clip of Charlie Wilson singing Outstanding at the Tiny Desk and used AI to swap in five college football coaches whose teams had just lost; the 19-second parody passed 2.8 million views and set off the trend. People soon put in their friends, coworkers and teams, with the same beats: the band in full swing, the lead singer breaking into laughter, the sax player taking the solo. The joke is the contrast between a classy music series and whoever is behind the desk. The Tiny Desk AI video template keeps that timing and puts you and up to two bandmates behind the desk, with an original soul track and office set, not NPR's footage or the song.

Why the Tiny Desk trend works

The Tiny Desk AI trend is a group joke with a star. Everyone knows the cluttered desk and the warm band sound, so the surprise is who is singing. The laugh makes it human, and the sax solo gives a second person their moment, which is why Tiny Desk AI videos get shared across group chats.

Key features of the Tiny Desk AI video template

  • No prompt: the Tiny Desk scene, camera and timing are set.
  • Tiny Desk videos run 15 seconds, like the original.
  • A vertical 9:16 Tiny Desk video with sound.
  • No visible watermark on your Tiny Desk video.

Ideas for your Tiny Desk video

  • Cast your group chat: one photo each for the singer, the sax and the keys.
  • Make a Tiny Desk AI concert for a birthday, a team win or a team loss.
  • Post your Tiny Desk AI video as it is, or swap in the trending sound; the cuts follow its tempo.

Best photos for the Tiny Desk AI video template

The Tiny Desk template asks for 3 photos: lead singer (sings, laughs, waves at the lens) and sax player (plays the closing solo) and keyboard player (plays keys in the front row).

  • Use photos of yourself or of adults who agreed to be in the video, one person per photo.
  • Photo 1 is the lead singer and gets the big close-up, so use a sharp, front-facing photo.
  • Add a second photo for the sax player and a third for the keyboard player, or leave them empty and the AI plays them.
  • Waist-up photos work best: the Tiny Desk AI shots frame everyone from the chest or waist up.
  • Everyone keeps the outfit from their own photo; team shirts lose their logos.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Tiny Desk AI video template free?

No. Each Tiny Desk video costs 100 credits before you generate, and a failed Tiny Desk video gives its credits back.

How many photos do I need?

One to three. Photo 1 is the lead singer; photos 2 and 3 are the sax and keyboard players. Any seat without a photo is played by the AI.

Does the video have sound?

Yes: an original soul band track with the band playing, wordless singing and the lead's laugh, on the trend's 99 BPM beat. It is not the song from the trend.

Can I put celebrities or a sports team in it?

No. Use photos of yourself or of adults who agreed. Public figures are not allowed, and logos and team names are left off the clothes.

Is this an official Tiny Desk concert?

No. Remix Motion is an independent tool, not affiliated with NPR, NPR Music, Tiny Desk or TikTok. It recreates the trend's look with an original scene and music.

Can I use a photo of a celebrity in the Tiny Desk video?

No. Use only photos of yourself or of adults who agreed to be in the Tiny Desk video. Photos of celebrities and other public figures are not allowed under our Acceptable Use Policy.
